A baby blanket for my adorable baby cousin, Becca (b. 9/6/06).

I found a pattern for a baby blanket on a Red Heart skein of yarn and modified it to come up with this. It took about all summer to make, working on and off (64 tiny granny squares had to be made and sewn together :faint:); finished by the time my aunt flew out to see her almost all the way across the country.

I'm.... one of those annoying relatives who has to show off pictures of babies ^^; I didn't want the pic to be that big, but I couldn't think of a better way to arrange the pics otherwise (it's officially fall break, my brain's shut down :P)

Made with Caron's Simply Soft yarn in white, pink, and raspberry (yum, lol). I didn't want all pastels so I chose a couple shades of pink. I think it's ok, but I probably could've used a lighter color than raspberry. Live & learn. I forgot to measure it, but I'm guessing it's about 38"x38"... the Red Heart pattern is supposed to make a 40"x40" blanket, but mine has a few less rows in the border, and I crochet kind of tight so it's a bit smaller.

I give ~dAKnitters and *ArtisanCraft permission to post this.

I don't know the meaning of the word "surrender". I mean, I know it, I'm not dumb... just not in this context.

I'm a doctor, not an escalator.

Thanks!
It's a double chain edging I found in "Donna Kooler's Encyclopedia of Crochet" (for some reason, I'm fascinated by edgings, I guess because I never get to make them that often)

Talk about dedication! This came out beautifully, and I really like that you've used the darker raspberry shade here - gives it a lot more dimension than the average all-pastel baby blanket, and makes it much more likely to be displayed past the tiny baby point...

All that glitters has a high refractive index.

Got shinies?

this is gorgeous. and she's adorable.

and i think the rasberry is fine. it gives it a little more depth and it doesn't scream "baby blanket" so it could be used elsewhere in the house or kept in her room when she's not a baby anymore.

i really wanna learn how to do this. u need to reteach me how to knit, and teach me to crochet. and hey don't u owe me a scarf or something? lol i kno, demand demand demand. haha

How far down would you fall if you never came up again?

Thanks so much, especially for the vote of confidence on the raspberry :)
